An Internet Guide for Asian American Cybernauts
June 12, 1995Hello folks!
This isn't the most updated copy, but you can find an old version of "An Internet Guide for Asian American Cybernauts" at the St. Olaf College Gopher. The document was first written way back in December of 1994. The guide was grueling work to write when there wasn't much to begin with. It was much harder to travel back in the old days when "Asian American cyberspace" was smaller. Am I sounding like an old timer? :-)
Asian American cyberspace is growing, and I'd like to think that maybe this document had a small part in it. Some of the items need to be updated, and please be warned that there are typos and some errors in the online version, but please do read it, especially the introduction and concluding comments. I also "greatly" appreciate (very much) any comments or feedback.
If want a printed (paper) copy, a re-worked version is available from UCLA, and the information was correct at the time of it was submitted. Future "updates" for the online version will be out too (but volunteer projects sometimes need support -- hint!).
It is my hope that this guide will inspire you to become an "Asian American cybernaut"!

Here's the link to the orignal version: "An Internet Guide for Asian American Cybernauts"Here's more info: A Press Release from the Amerasia Journal (June 15, 1995).
Also, at the request of many people, I have created a home page for many of the links mentioned in the guide. It is called the Asian American Cybernauts Page. I will try to keep the updates for new items here (as time permits).
And please don't forget to check out the Asian American Resources Page which was first inspired by the links in the guide. Brian Yamauchi, a member of AAGPSO, was that nice guy who first helped to start off the AAR Page at Case Western Reserve University, but now the job goes to Robert Irie. (Brian graduated with his PhD this June!) Creating Asian American cyberspace is certainly a community project.
