The Pasadena Buddhist Temple is part of the Buddhist Churches of America. It was established in 1948, and incorporated in 1956. The temple and classrooms were completed in 1958. The annex, which is used by the PJAA Bruins organization to conduct practices, was constructed in 1962. We will be celebrating our 50th anniversary this year.

Reverend Shinji Okada is the resident minister. Reverend Tetsuo Unno is the English speaking minister. Click here to read Reverend Unno's message published in the Hikari.

Family services are held each Sunday.
Service begins at 10:00 am and is followed by an English speaking and Japanese speaking classes.

2007 Obon Festival Information

There is an authentic Tea House in the garden of our Buddhist Temple. This Tea House and garden was dedicated in 1965. Tea class(Chanoyu) meets each week. During our Pasadena Obon, there will be a demonstration of the tea ceremony inside the tea house. All are invited to attend to learn about this traditional ceremony. Demonstration is conducted in English.
